Sign up for alerts

What’s the best way to find out about service issues from Metra? Sign up for email alerts. When you do, you’ll receive an email whenever there are significant delays on your line or lines. You can even choose a window of time during which you want to receive them.

To subscribe to alerts, go here and select "Create new account." You’ll be asked to enter an email and create a password. Next, you’ll have to create a “Favorite Line” –  the one you ride. Start by clicking on the orange “Add New Line” box. Name your trip if you want to, then select your line, the days you want to receive alerts (weekdays, Saturday or Sunday) and, if you want, your origin and destination stations. Then check the circle confirming that you want to receive the email alerts. Once you do that, you will have the option to choose a specific time window to receive the alerts.

You can add as many lines as you want – many customers create one “Favorite Line” for their trip to work in the morning and then  a second with the same line but different hours for their trip home in the evening. Once you’ve completed the process, you will receive any alert we send out about your line during the hours you’ve selected. To change your preferences, delete the “Favorite Line” you want to change and create a new “Favorite Line” with the new preferences.

You can also follow your line on Twitter to receive service information: @metraHC, @metraUPN, @metraMDN, @metraMDW,
@metraUPW, @metraMED, @metraSWS, @metraNCS,
@metraRID, @metraUPNW and @metraBNSF.
