Metra Alert - Metra Electric District Extra Service For Chicago Bears Games

The Metra Electric District will run extra train service for anticipation of larger than normal crowds for the Chicago Bears home games. For more information click here and visit metra.com.

Metra Alert - Chicago Marathon Extra Service - Sunday, October 8

Metra will offer extra early morning inbound and early afternoon outbound trains on four of its lines for runners and spectators going to the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 8.

Extra service will be offered on Metra's BNSF, Milwaukee District North, Union Pacific Northwest and Union Pacific West lines. The service will run in addition to regularly scheduled Sunday trains. Other lines with service will operate their regular Sunday schedule.

Metra Alert UP-N - Track construction Saturday, October 7 through Sunday, October 8

Track construction will be taking place Saturday, October 7 through midday Sunday,  October 8. Trains may incur delays enroute up to 15 minutes behind schedule passing through the work zone. Metra Alert MD-N - Weekend track construction through January 16, 2024

Track construction will be taking place every weekend at the Grayland station, Rondout, and the Everett crosssing  through January 16, 2024. Trains may incur delays enroute up to 15 minutes behind schedule passing through the work zone on Saturday and Sunday until the work is complete. Metra Alert MD-N - Edgebrook station parking lot maintenance Wednesday and Thursday, October 11-12

Beginning Wednesday, October 11, after the morning rush hour and continuing through Thursday, October 12, Metra crews will be repairing the Lehigh Ave parking lot. The Lehigh Ave parking lot entrance will be closed; however, the entrance at Ponchartrain blvd will remain open. Please allow additional time when traveling to the Edgebrook station.

Metra Alert MD-W - Wood Dale Platform 1 Rehabilitation

 Beginning Wednesday, October 4. the west half of Platform 1 (outbound platform) will be closed for rehabilitation for 1 month. Commuters must use the east pedestrian crosswalk to access the platforms. Once completed, the work will move to the east half of Platform 1 to complete the project by the end of November. Please allow additional time to access the in-service platforms and exercise caution near the work zones.

Metra Alert UP-W - Geneva Platform 2 Rehabilitation.

 Beginning Monday, October 9, the Geneva outbound platform (Platform 2) will be closed for rehabilitation through the end of 2024. Commuters must use the temporary platform located east of Third Street.  Please allow   additional time to access the in-service platform and exercise caution near the work zones.

Metra Alert BNSF - Washington Street Railroad Crossing Closed for Construction

Beginning, Monday, October 9, 2023, the Washington Street railroad crossing will be closed for The Village’s Civic Center construction project.  The crossing is expected to reopen the week of October 23.

Metra Alert SWS - Oak Lawn Platform Rehabilitation

Beginning Saturday, September 9, the north half of Platform 2 (outbound platform) will be closed for rehabilitation. Once completed, the work will move to the south half of Platform 2 to complete the project by the end of November. Please allow additional time to access the in-service platform and exercise caution near the work zones.

Metra Alert RI - 103rd street/Washington Heights station parking lot repaving October 9th and 11th.

 Beginning Monday, October 9 through Tuesday, October 11th, the parking lot surrounding the depot at the 103rd street/Washington Heights station will be repaved. During this time the parking lot will be inaccessible. Customers will have to park in the south parking lot located at 105th and Elizabeth street.  Please allow additional time traveling to the station.

Metra Electric inbound train #830 scheduled to arrive Millennium Station at 8:49 p.m. may be 15 to 20 minutes delayed due to track construction.
Metra Alert ME - Homewood East Side Construction Will Begin March 13

Beginning Monday, March 13, access to the Homewood Station from the east will be closed for station construction until Summer 2024.  Access to the boarding platform will be through the Park Avenue entrance ONLY (west side of tracks).

 

Beginning, Monday, March 6, the Pace bus stop will relocate from Harwood Avenue to Park Avenue.  Please allow additional time and use caution near the work zone.

Metra Alert ME - 79th street/Chatham Station Closure Beginning July 10 - Station Rebuild Project

The 79th street/Chatham station on the Metra Electric line will be closed beginning Monday, July 10 for approximately 7 months. During this time passengers can use 75th and 83rd street stations as alternatives. This is part of the Metra Electric Community initiative to transform multiple stations on the Metra Electric District. Once completed, stations will have enclosed ADA-accessible street-level entrances, lobbies with elevators, new stairs, headhouses, new composite deck platforms, new lighting, and signage.  For more information click here.
