To see which trains might be delayed by construction projects, look for the hardhat icon in the schedules for each line. 

BNSF: See below for effective construction dates

July 8 through October 7: Weekday track maintenance occurring between Cicero and Naperville.  Midday trains with the helmet logo displayed underneath may be delayed 10 minutes.

September 24 through October 2: Weekend track maintenance occurring near Cicero. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed 10 minutes.

Metra Electric: See below for effective construction dates

Effective until further notice: Weekday and weekend construction taking place for multiple projects including: 147th St. Sibley station for rehab and track maintenance on all 3 branches. Midday trains with the helmet logo displayed underneath may be delayed 10 minutes.

  • On 10/1 and 10/2 trains 8324, 8305, 8307, 8325 may also experience delays up to 5 minutes due to track work.

Milwaukee District North: See below for effective construction dates

Effective until further notice: Weekday and weekend construction taking place near Grayland. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed 10 minutes.

  • On 10/1 and 10/2 train 2627 may also experience delays up to 10 minutes due to track work.

Milwaukee District West: See below for effective construction dates

Effective until further notice: Weekday and weekend construction taking place near Hanover Park for a new crossing renewal. Weekday inbound trains 2228-2244 and outbound trains 2209-2223 may experience delays up to 10 minutes. Weekend inbound trains 2700-2720 and outbound trains 2701-2721 may experience delays up to 10 minutes.

Rock Island: See below for effective construction dates

October 1 through October 2: Weekend construction taking place at 123rd St. and Loomis Ave. Weekend trains (202-322 / 205-221) may experience delays up to 10 minutes while passing through the work zones.

Union Pacific North: See below for effective construction dates

September 2 through September 30: On-going weekday construction taking place at Petersen Ridge for the new station. Also, weekday track maintenance between Lake Bluff and Waukegan and a tie gang project up near Kenosha. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed 15 minutes. Trains (322, 303, 347) may experience delays up to 10 minutes passing through the work zone of Waukegan to Kenosha.

October 1 through October 2: Due to track work between Winnetka and Rogers park, a construction schedule is in effect. Trains listed in the bullet points below may experience delays up to 25 minutes. Trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath not listed below may also experience delays up to 15 minutes.

  • Saturday 10/1 - Trains 801, 802, 803, 806, 805, 812, 809, 816, 813, 818, 819, 820 may experience delays up to 25 minutes.
  • Sunday 10/2 - Trains 811, 816, 815, 818, 819, 820 may experience delays up to 25 minutes.

October 3 through October 7: Due to a tie gang project between Waukegan and Kenosha, trains (322, 303, 347) may experience delays up to 10 minutes passing through the work zone.

September 26 through September 30: Weekday construction taking place between Barrington and Cary. Weekday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may experience delays up to 15 minutes.
