Metra Alert - Metra Electric District and Union Pacific North Line Extra Service For Chicago Bears Games

The Metra Electric District and Union Pacific North Line will run extra train service for anticipation of larger than normal crowds for the Chicago Bears home games. For more information click here and visit metra.com.

Metra Alert - Chicago Marathon Extra Service - Sunday, October 13

Metra will offer extra early morning inbound and midafternoon outbound trains on three of its lines for runners and spectators going to the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday, Oct. 13.

Extra service will be offered on Metra’s Milwaukee District North, Union Pacific Northwest and Union Pacific West lines. The recently expanded Sunday schedule on the BNSF Line provides trains that will get you downtown by race time. All other lines with Sunday service will operate their regular Sunday schedules.

Train #810, scheduled to depart Kenosha at 8:34 AM and arrive Chicago at 10:17 AM is on the move and may be operating 25 to 30 minutes behind schedule due to positive train control issues.

MWD Grand / Cicero Elevator
The Grand/Cicero elevator is out of service. Customers can use Western Avenue or Hanson Park as alternate boarding stations. Updates will be provided.
Metra Alert UP-W - Geneva Platform 2 Rehabilitation

On Monday, October 9, the Geneva outbound platform (Platform 2) will be closed for rehabilitation through the end of 2024. Commuters must use the temporary platform located east of Third Street. All trains will board passengers from the rear cars on this platform. Please allow additional time to access the in-service platform and exercise caution near the work zones.

Metra Alert UP-W - River Forest Platform 2 Rehabilitation

Beginning Wednesday, May 8, the east half of Platform 2 (island platform) will be closed for rehabilitation. Once completed, the work will move to the west half of Platform 2 to complete the project by the end of November.

Please allow additional time to access the in-service platform and exercise caution near the work zones.

Metra will once again be offering special service on the Heritage Corridor Line on six Saturdays this fall, providing opportunities to explore the bike trails, festivals, craft breweries, restaurants, and vibrant communities along this historic route. Full schedules can be found on metra.com.

All Inbound Metra Electric Trains will board from platform 1 at 63rd, 59th, 55th, 51st and Museum Campus
All Metra Electric Inbound Trains will board from Platform 1 at 63rd, 59th, 55th, 51st and Museum Campus.
All MED Outbound trains will board from the North End of the Platform at 18th, McCormick Place, 27th and 47th
Outbound trains may be loading from the north end of the platform at 18th, McCormick Place, 27th and 47th street. Please wait on the platform visible to the engineer and follow boarding instructions from the conductor after the train stops.
ME Van Buren Street Station Elevator Is Out Of Service
The Van Buren Street Station elevator is out of service. Customers can use South Water or Museum Campus as alternate boarding stations. Updates will be provided.
MED South Water elevator is Out of Service
The South Water Station elevator is out of service. Customers can use Museum Campus elevator or McCormick Place elevator as alternate boarding stations. Updates will be provided.
Metra Alert ME - 147th St./Sibley Blvd station closed for reconstruction until fall 2024.

 The 147th street/Sibley Blvd station is closed for reconstruction until fall 2024. During this time, trains will not stop at this station. As alternates, please use the nearby Ivanhoe or Harvey stations. Updates will be provided once  the rehabilitation is complete and the station is accessible. Metra apologizes for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Metra Alert ME - Millennium Station elevator out of service until further notice

The Millennium Station elevator is out of service until further notice.  Customers can use the elevator located at 205 N Michigan, which leads to the South Water entrance to Millennium Station

Metra Alert ME - Upcoming track construction to impact schedules and service

Due to a NICTD rail project, passengers at 47th, 27th, McCormick, 18th and Van Buren, will board trains utilizing temporary platform extenders.  We ask that customers at these locations wait behind the yellow line and listen for boarding instructions from the conductors.  Additionally, all Saturday trains will operate on a Sunday schedule on Oct. 12, 19, and 26, and all service may be delayed up to 20 minutes during this phase of construction, click here.
