BNSF will operate a Sunday schedule on both Saturday, July 8, and Sunday, July 9, due to scheduled track work at the Westmont Station.
BNSF will be replacing rail ties along the platform at Westmont, necessitating the closure of the station on Saturday, July 8, and Sunday, July 9. Trains will not stop at the station on either day. The pedestrian crossings at the station as well as Cass Avenue vehicular and pedestrian crossings will also be closed from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days. Reducing rail traffic to a Sunday schedule is intended to minimize delays through the work zone. The schedule can be found here.
While Cass Avenue is closed, the nearest railroad crossings available to motorists will be Prospect Avenue in Clarendon Hills and Fairview Avenue in Downers Grove. Detour signs will be posted.
The pedestrian crossings at Cass Avenue and at the Westmont Station will also be closed both Saturday, July 8 and Sunday, July 9.
As the work proceeds, additional closings at Westmont and weekend schedule reductions will be announced.
