CTA, Metra, and Pace are excited to announce the new Regional Day Pass, providing unlimited rides on all three services for one day. This new discounted pass is available to all riders via the Ventra app and includes a Metra Day Pass and unlimited rides on CTA and Pace for 24 hours.
What to Know
- The Regional Day Pass is available only in the Ventra app.
- Start by purchasing a Metra Day Pass with your chosen zones. After checkout, you'll see an option to add the Regional Day Pass.
- Valid for one day from activation.*
- Valid on Pace Premium Routes with an added transfer fee.
- Unused passes expire 14 days after purchase.
* The Regional Day Pass is valid on Metra until 3 a.m. after the activation date, and on CTA and Pace for 24 hours after first tap.
How to Buy
Once riders have a Ventra card registered in their Ventra account, riders can buy a Regional Day Pass.
- Step 1: Purchase a Metra Day Pass.
- Step 2: Add a Regional Day Pass
After completing your purchase, an option to “Add a Regional Day Pass” will appear on the Thank You screen. Click this option and select the Ventra card you'd like to add the pass to. - Step 3: Select your Ventra card and payment method.
You can use any credit or debit card (including pre-tax transit benefits debit cards), or use transit value stored in your Ventra account. - Step 4: Enjoy
Once payment is complete, your Ventra card will be loaded with the Regional Day Pass. Use it to pay fares when riding CTA buses and trains, or Pace buses (additional fare applies for Premium Routes).
FAQs
A: A day pass just for rides on CTA and Pace is available for $5. The Regional Day Pass is designed for Metra riders who also want to ride CTA and/or Pace within a single day.
A: Yes, if you have purchased a virtual Ventra card, or transferred a physical card into a virtual card using Google Pay or Apple Pay.
A: The Regional Day Pass allows for rides on Metra until 3 a.m. the following morning after purchase and for 24 hours after activation on CTA and Pace.
