Metra Station Construction Closures

Metra is in the midst of a multiyear, multimillion-dollar effort to rehabilitate stations on the Metra Electric Line, with an emphasis on making them accessible to persons with disabilities. The work at most stations includes enclosed, ADA-accessible street-level entrances and lobbies with elevators; new stairs and headhouses; new composite deck platforms; and new lighting and signage.

Below, customers will find up-to-date information regarding the station closures such as when work is expected to begin and end. Please check back for more updated information such as specific closure and reopening dates as the project moves forward.  

79th St/Chatham

  • Station reopened December 16, 2024.

87th St./Woodruff

  • Station is closed for rehabilitation and is expected to reopen in late 2025. 
  • Customers can use the 83rd St. and 91st St. stations as alternatives.

95th St./Chicago State University

  • Station is closed for rehabilitation is expected to reopen in the third quarter of 2027.
  • Customers can use the 91st St./Chesterfield or the newly rehabbed 103rd St./Rosemoor stations as alternatives

103rd St./Rosemoor

  • Station reopened March 3, 2025

147th St./Sibley Blvd.

  • Station reopened on Oct. 28, 2024

Homewood

  • Work was completed in December 2024
