Michael Reese redevelopment project to close 27th Street Station for 10 days

Work to redevelop the former Michael Reese Hospital site will require the closure of the 27th Street Station on the Metra Electric Line for 10 days in late June.

The redevelopment of the Michael Reese site will include the closure of East 26th Street and require the relocation of a stairway at 26th Street on the west side of the tracks used to access the boarding platform. The project will also require the construction of a new retaining wall alongside the tracks between 26th and 31st streets, as well as repairs to the existing retaining wall.

To facilitate this work, the station will close Friday, June 20, and reopen on Monday, June 30.  Metra Electric riders who need to use the service in that timeframe will need to board at the McCormick Place or 47th Street stations.
