Metra expands UP North weekend service

Metra will be expanding weekend service on the UP North Line beginning Saturday, Sept. 20, providing the same level of service on both Saturdays and Sundays.

The new schedule will provide 15 inbound and 15 outbound trains on both Saturdays and Sundays. This represents an increase of four trains on Saturdays and 12 trains on Sundays. The increase does not include Ravinia trains, which operate only during the concert season.

The expanded schedule will significantly improve service to and from Kenosha on weekends, providing a total of eight inbound and eight outbound trains. The schedule will also decrease gaps in weekend service by offering hourly departures from Waukegan or Chicago throughout most of the day.

Metra’s goal with schedule changes is to accommodate the needs of our current riders and make our service a more attractive option for all travelers. A copy of the new weekend schedule can be viewed here.
