Discover Pullman National Historical Park

Pullman National Historical Park

Railroad history is cemented into Chicago’s identity and Metra is proud to play a part. While Metra began servicing Chicagoland in 1985, the roots of railroading run much deeper, leading us to Pullman.

Pullman National Historical Park (formerly Pullman National Monument) showcases the story of the Pullman Company, the workers who lived and labored there, and their significant contributions to railroad transportation, industrial innovation, urban planning, American labor and civil rights movements. Metra is proud to partner with Pullman to honor this legacy, including supporting events like Pullman Days that celebrate the community’s rich history and contributions to the railroad industry.

As you arrive, start your day at the National Park Service Visitor Center to learn an overview of the events that put this neighborhood on the map. After this, make sure to visit:

  • The Historic Pullman Foundation
  • The Pullman House Project
  • The National A. Philip Randolph Pullman Porter Museum
