The below dates indicate the duration of construction projects, NOT how long Metra intends to keep the alternate schedules in effect. Please monitor alerts and check our homepage or the Ventra app for service updates.
To see which trains might be delayed by construction projects, look for the hardhat icon in the schedules for each line.

BNSF
Effective September 15 until October 10: Weekday construction occurring between Union Avenue and Aurora. Midday trains (including train 1233) with the helmet logo displayed underneath may be delayed up to 10 minutes. From October 6 through October 10 there will also be evening work occurring along the line. Evening trains (In: 1292 - 1302 / Out: 1279 - 1295) may experience delays up to 15 minutes.
Metra Electric
Effective January 6 until further notice: Weekday and weekend construction occurring for the rehabilitation of 87th and 95th Street stations. Weekday midday trains (In: 100-334 / Out: 101-245) may be delayed 20 minutes. Weekend midday trains (In: 800-828 / Out: 8301-829) may be delayed up to 30 minutes.
Effective January 6 until further notice: Weekday and weekend evening construction occurring between 11th Place and University Park. Evening weekday trains (In: 138-150 / Out: 345-153) may experience delays up to 30 minutes. Evening weekend trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed 30 minutes.
Milwaukee District North
Effective October 4 through October 5: Weekend construction occurring between Union Station and Lake Forest. Midday trains with the helmet logo displayed underneath may be delayed up to 30 minutes.
Effective until further notice: Weekday construction occurring between Western Avenue to Northbrook. Midday trains (including train 2142) with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 20 minutes. From September 30 through October 1, ALL weekday trains (excluding midday trains) may experience delays up to 15 minutes.
Milwaukee District West
Effective September 15 through October 10: Weekday and weekend construction occurring along various parts of the line. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 15 minutes. From September 30 through October 1, ALL weekday trains may experience delays up to 15 minutes.
Effective October 4 through October 5: Weekend construction occurring between Union Station and Roselle. Midday trains with the helmet logo displayed underneath may be delayed up to 15 minutes.
North Central Service
Effective September 15 through October 10: Weekday construction occurring along various parts of the line. ALL weekday trains may be delayed up to 15 minutes.
Rock Island
Effective August 2 through October 12: Weekend construction occurring near 103rd Street and Gresham. Weekend midday trains (In: 202-122 / Out: 205-221) may be delayed up to 10 minutes.
Effective June 2 through October 10: Weekday construction occurring between 115th Street and Morgan Street. Weekday midday trains (In: 606-612 / Out: 601-605) may be delayed up to 10 minutes and midday helmet trains (In: 414-628 / Out: 407-619) may experience delays up to 20 minutes.
SouthWest Service
Effective July 7 through October 10: Weekday construction occurring near Ashburn. Weekday midday trains (In: 812-818 / Out: 805-811) may be delayed up to 15 minutes.
Union Pacific North
Effective October 4 through October 5: Weekend construction occurring between Clybourn and Winnetka. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 25 minutes.
Effective September 15 through October 10: Weekday construction occurring between Main Street and Winnetka. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up 20 minutes.
Union Pacific Northwest
Effective August 4 through October 5: Weekday and weekend construction occurring between Irving Park to Edison Park for a tie project. Midday trains (In: 636-664 / Out: 613-637, 659-663) may experience delays up to 25 minutes. Trains (604, 606, 612, 630, 632, 634) may also experience delays up to 10 minutes. The remaining trains may experience delays up to 5 minutes. Due to this construction, the following UPNW trains #648 (departs Crystal Lake 11:45am), #654 (departs Crystal Lake 2:45pm), #621 (departs OTC 9:35am), #627 (departs OTC 12:35pm) will be cancelled for the duration of the project.
Due to this tie project, on Saturday midday trains (In: 700-724, 730-734 / Out: 701-725) may experience delays up to 20 minutes. On Sunday, midday trains (In: 702-732 / Out: 703-725) may experience delays up to 20 minutes.

Effective October 2: On Thursday only, there will be construction near Barrington due to a track outage. Midday trains (In: 636-672 / Out: 613-669) may experience delays up to 25 minutes.
Effective October 6 through October 10: Weekday construction occurring between Cary and Crystal Lake. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up 20 minutes.
Union Pacific West
Effective September 30 through October 1: From September 30 through October 1, due to construction near downtown, ALL weekday trains may experience delays up to 15 minutes.
Effective October 4 through October 5: Weekend construction occurring between Geneva and Elburn. Midday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may be delayed up to 15 minutes.
