Metra’s New Café Car is rolling through this fall.
A whole new way to ride Metra is pulling into your station. For a limited time, Metra’s Café Car is hitting the rails and we want you on board. Try it out, grab a treat, and let us know what you think. Your feedback will help decide the future of the Café Car, so don’t miss your chance to be part of this first-ever trial run.
Where to Find the Café Car
The Café Car is making stops on several lines this fall. You’ll find it onboard select morning and afternoon rush hour trains on the dates below — plus parked at downtown stations for an up-close look. Select your line to see when to catch the train.

FAQs
The Café Car is a prototype railcar with café-style seating, counters, and tables that offer a new way for riders to relax, connect, and engage during their trip. We’re testing it this fall to see if riders would like to see more of these cars in the future.
Select lines will host the Café Car for two days throughout the fall, plus a third day when it will be parked at a station for viewing. See the full schedule above.
During morning and evening rush hours, snacks and drinks will be given away for free to riders when you complete the onboard survey.
This is a trial. After gathering feedback, Metra will evaluate whether and how to bring the Café Car back in the future.
