Metra adds Holiday Train to UP North Line

Metra will operate a special Holiday Train on the Union Pacific North Line on Dec. 16, making it the sixth line to feature the festive trains trips with holiday characters this season. Tickets for the other five lines sold out in less than a day.
 
Tickets for the UP North train will cost $5 and go on sale at shop.metra.com at 7 a.m. on Nov. 30.

The decorated Holiday Trains will feature Santa and Mrs. Claus and other holiday characters. The UP North train will start with an inbound trip from Waukegan at 11:10 a.m., making stops at Great Lakes, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Highland Park, Ravinia, Glencoe, Winnetka, Wilmette, Central St., Davis St., Main St., Rogers Park, and Ravenswood before arriving at a decorated Ogilvie Transportation Center at 12:30 p.m. Participants can ride the Holiday Train back to their starting point (departing at 1:35 p.m. from Ogilvie) or stay downtown and use their holiday ticket to return on any scheduled train that day.
