Three Metra trains will not operate beyond Lake Forest late Friday night, Aug. 11, and early Saturday morning, Aug. 12, due to construction work between Lake Forest and Libertyville.
On Friday, outbound Train 2157, which departs Chicago at 11 p.m., will terminate at Lake Forest and there will be no train service beyond that point. Passengers traveling beyond Lake Forest on Train 2157 will need to transfer to a Pace shuttle bus making all stops to Fox Lake.
The first two inbound trains on Saturday morning, Aug. 12 (Train 2600 and Train 2602) will begin their runs at Lake Forest. Train 2600 will depart from Lake Forest at 6:11 a.m. and Train 2602 will depart from Lake Forest at 7:20 a.m. Both trains will make all stops from Lake Forest to Chicago Union Station.
Metra will be taking the tracks north of the Lake Forest Station out of service late Friday night into Saturday morning to replace track panels between Lake Forest and Libertyville. Service between Lake Forest and Fox Lake will resume Aug. 12 with Train 2604, which is scheduled to depart from Fox Lake at 8:45 a.m.
By performing the work during the overnight hours, Metra hopes to inconvenience as few customers as possible.
